Kia ora, this is my speech for the speech comp
*Sighs* I've always wanted to go to the South Island to surf, lick ice cream or just simply travel around the South island. DAD! Can we go to the South island these holidays? WHAT!?! That’s not a good enough answer! It's either YES or NO not “We’ll see!”
Its like Parents speak their own language and expect children like me to understand what they're saying, so I translated their language as accurately as I could, *sarcastically* I even searched it up! When they shrug or say “maybe” it's a most likely, definitely a big, fat, NO. Worst one of them all, when they say “We’ll see.” They might as well just say no because nothing gonna happen.
When my Parents say all these things, I always get my hopes up and wait for them to say yes, so I ask again again and again. Then my dad sets a time of when it’s gonna happen and says: next week or next holidays. Then when the time comes, he says next week or next holidays, so whenever I ask anything, it never happens.
HA! I’ve cracked the case!! Parents can’t be bothered! They would rather just sleep in and do nothing! *sigh* not even my brother agrees! Oh, that’s right he’s about to get a new emote and level up in Fortnite, so he can’t come, oh wait we’re not going! Looks like no-one is bothered!
No wonder why parents say all these things, they want nothing to do with your question, so they propose a careless answer and then they say they have ‘plans’. Example: *clears throat* Dad, can we get McDonald’s for dinner? *deeper voice* Hmm… We’ll see! I think I have plans tonight. *sighs* I wish there was no such thing as ‘we’ll see’, I wish we could go to the South Island *sighs* my dad wishes for a million dollars l guess none of our wishes will come true.
The South Island would of been pretty, but there was no point of asking if I can go to the South Island, because it looks like we aren’t going. Miss Armstrong, can we have ice cream after? * Miss Armstrong* “Well see!” UGH!
